The Odisha Cabinet on Wednesday approved piped water projects worth Rs 912.38 crore to be implemented in mining-affected areas and other districts.
The state cabinet has approved four rural piped water supply projects worth Rs.551.78 crore in mining-affected Jajpur, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts, benefitting 2.34 lakh people in nine blocks of the districts.
N.C.C. Ltd, Hyderabad has been selected through an open tendering process to implement the projects within a period of 24 months.
The project funded under Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC) assistance will be implemented within a period of 24 months, said Chief Secretary A.P. Padhi.
The cabinet also approved two pipe water supply projects worth Rs 360.60 crore in Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts.
Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Chennai will implement the projects within a period of 24 months from the date of award of the work.

On successful implementation of these projects, over 4.22 lakh people of 473 villages of the two districts will get safe drinking water, said Padhi.
The drinking water projects will be implemented in Narasinghpur and Badamba blocks of Cuttack district where there have been concerns regarding fluoride presence in water and Balikuda, Naugaon and Erasama blocks of Jagatsinghpur district where saline content is more than the admissible limits.
