The Odisha Vigilance Department on Thursday arrested IAS officer Partha Sarathi Mishra on corruption charges.
"A criminal case has been registered against Mishra. He has been arrested and forwarded to the court," said a statement of the department.
The anti-corruption wing of the Vigilance Department on Wednesday seized about Rs 2.14 lakh from the possession of Mishra, currently Managing Director of the Orissa Small Industries Corporation Ltd.
Acting on information regarding collection of huge amount of illegal money from different persons, the Vigilance sleuths intercepted the vehicle of Mishra and Rs 2,14,750 in was found in his possession.
In preliminary interrogation, he failed to explain the source of this money, said the statement.
In this connection, the Vigilance sleuths also conducted search operations at his government quarters situated at Unit-II, Bhubaneswar, his residential house at Bajrakabati Road, Cuttack, and his office chamber at Khapuria Chowk, Cuttack.
