While intense heat wave conditions prevailed in several parts of Odisha, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted that some parts of the state may experience thundersquall accompanied with hail on Tuesday.

"Latest doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thundersquall accompanied with hail followed by gusty surface wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph may occur at one or two places," said the Bhubaneswar met department.

It said that the Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Puri and Khurdha districts are likely to experience thundersquall between 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a total of seven towns recorded temperature above 40 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The coastal belt of the state reeled under sultry weather conditions with humidity level crossing 90 per cent mark. Western Odisha town Titlagarh recorded highest temperature of 42 degrees Celsius followed by Bolangir at 41.8 degrees and Bhawanipatna at 41.5 degrees Celsius.
