Odisha's Titlagarh town records 47 degrees C

Odisha continued to reel under intense heat-wave with Titlagarh town on Monday recording 47 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature in the state this summer, the Met Office said.

A total of 14 places in the state recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.

While Titlagarh recorded 47 degrees Celsius, Bolangir boiled at 46.5 degrees Celsius, and Bhawanipatna roasted at 45.2 degrees Celsius. Both Sonepur and Malkangiri recorded 44.8 degrees Celsius, said the Met Office here.

Meanwhile, eight persons have died due to sunstroke in the state.

The Special Relief Commissioner's office said it has received 62 cases of death related to heat-wave.

"While the department has received 62 cases of death apparently due to sunstroke, 22 cases have been inquired and eight cases were confirmed due to sunstroke," said the office.
