Injured Olympic 800m champion David Rudisha of Kenya is unlikely to compete at the Commonwealth Games, to be held in Gold Coast from April 4 t 15.

The Kenyan, who holds the world record at 1:40.91 minute, has just returned to training after shaking off a leg injury, which ruled him out of the London World Championships, reports Xinhua news agency.

However, with the trials for the Kenyan team going to the Commonwealth Games fast approaching, he may not be in the best possible shape to secure a ticket to the Gold Coast,

"I believe a problem is nothing but an opportunity to prove yourself. The injury is healed and I am done with my morning training session. I work so hard and I never give up until a job is completed. I am full of confidence, hope and sunshine," said Rudisha.

Kenya has announced it may miss several key personalities from its Commonwealth Games team, which comes earlier than its usual August date.

However, with no other major championships, athletes must decide if they must compete in Commonwealth Games or the IAAF Diamond League, which starts in May. Then there is also the Africa Championships which kicks off in August.
