Chinese fencer Lei Sheng, who won the men's foil gold at the 2012 London Olympics, will carry the country's national flag at the 17th Asian Games opening ceremony here Friday.
Liu Peng, chef de mission of the Chinese delegation, made the announcement Thursday at the flag raising and welcome ceremony held at the athletes' village, reports Xinhua.
"Our fencing Olympic champion Lei Sheng will take the honour to carry the flag for China this time," said Liu.
The 1.93-metre-tall Sheng became the first gold medallist for the Chinese men's foil two years ago.
Thirty-three Olympic champions will spearhead China's 1,328-member delegation at the Asiad, to be held Sep 19 to Oct 4.
