Brazil's Olympic long-jump gold medallist Maurren Maggi has announced she will retire at the end of the year.
The 38-year-old said injuries and poor form had forced her to abort her dream of competing at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, reports Xinhua.
"As everybody knows, it's not always possible to do everything you want at the highest level," Maggi said on Sunday.
Maggi, who won gold at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, failed to make the final in London four years later after recovering from a hip injury.
Her last competitive event is likely to be at the Pan American Games, to be held in Toronto from July 10 to 26.
