Police here Sunday said they had arrested a man involved in the murder of a cow protection group's volunteer in Haryana.
Tahir, 32, was arrested Saturday from Uten village in Mewat district close to Gurgaon, police said.
He was involved in the Aug 25 murder of Vikrant Yadav, a volunteer working for cow protection, police said.
"He was a member of a four-member gang involved in stealing cattle," Anand Kumar, chief of crime branch Bilaspur, told IANS.
"Tahir was presented before a court Sunday which sent him to two days' police custody," he said.
To protest the killing of Yadav, angry villagers protested and blocked the Gurgaon-Pataudi Road and disrupted rail traffic on the Rewari-Delhi route for several hours.
On Aug 30, more than 15 trucks allegedly involved in illegal trade in cows were set on fire.
