One person was killed and two were injured in firing during a clash between employees of a bar and a group of unidentified people here, police said on Thursday.
Police said bouncers at the bar at Haridevpur in Kolkata's southern outskirts got into a heated argument with some unidentified people a little after midnight when they refused to pay for the bar services.
The free-trippers left, but came back some time later in more numbers and started firing indiscriminately.
"The gang which had refused to pay came back with firearms and bombs," said a police officer.
In all, 30-35 bullets were fired. A stray bullet hit a nearby pedestrian.
"One person Rahul Majumdar was hit by a bullet in his head. He was declared dead in a hospital. Two others have sustained injuries in their hands," Deputy Commissioner (West Division) of Kolkata Police Naseer Muni Khan told reporters.

Although the bar authorities called police when the brawl began, the law-keepers were outnumbered as the gang members had called their associates.
However, locals alleged that some police constables manning a police outpost, instead of trying to bring the situation under control, took cover in the booth when the firing started.
"One person has been arrested so far. Raids are on to nab others involved in the firing," said a police officer.
Police were also viewing the closed circuit television footage of the bar to get details of the accused and the chain of events.
