The BJP on Saturday accused the opposition parties of indulging in "appeasement of terrorism" after a political war erupted over the surgical strikes carried out by Indian armed forces on September 29 across the LoC.

"Today, every citizen of the country is full of nationalistic zeal but some opposition parties are suffering from political frustration and are busy in appeasement of terrorism," Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit president Satish Upadhyay said while speaking at the executive committee meeting here.

"We fail to understand which section of the nation they are trying to appease?" Upadhyay wondered.

"Generally such appeasement seems to be only for the separatists and terrorists," he said.

The BJP leader's remarks came after a political war erupted between Congress, BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces across the Line of Control (LoC) on September 29 following the terror attack on an Indian army camp in Uri town of Kashmir on September 18, which left 19 soldiers dead.

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal had earlier urged the central government to expose Pakistan internationally, while hailing the media for exposing its false propaganda on surgical strikes.

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on October 6 accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of doing "dalaali" (profiteering) over the blood shed by Indian soldiers.

Following Gandhi's remarks on Prime Minister, the BJP and the Congress indulged in a bitter war of words on Friday over the surgical strikes with the latter accusing the ruling party of using the military operation for political propaganda.

Hitting out at the opposition parties, Upadhyay said: "It appears that today there is contest between the politics of nationalism and appeasement in the country."

The BJP leader further said that the country is facing grave situation today.

"On one hand, Pakistan sponsored terrorism is trying to weaken India and on the other, such political atmosphere is being created which may demoralise the government and the army," he added.

Upadhyay also stressed that the party workers have to create "atmosphere of harmony in the country and unite people against terrorism".

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP general secretary Siddharthan said that the next two months are very important for the party workers for the expansion and strengthening the organisation.

"In December, assembly by-elections are due and after that, MCD elections are likely to be held in Delhi and for this purpose the organisation will have to start working at the booth level," Sidddharthan said.

"We will have to identify weak booths and depute at least two strong workers at such weak booths," the BJP leader added.
