Otago beat Wolves in CLT20 opener

New Zealand side Otago defeated the Faisalabad Wolves of Pakistan by eight wickets in the first match of the Champions League Twenty20 Qualifying Round at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium here Tuesday.

The Wolves, choosing to bat first, could only manage 139/8 in their 20 overs with skipper Misbah-ul-Haq top scoring with 46 off 34 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes.

Ian Butler, James McMillan and James Neesham took two wickets each while Neil Wagner clinched one for Otago.

In response, Otago achieved their target in 17.5 overs finishing with 142/2.

Skipper Brendon McCullum top scored with an unbeaten 83 off 65 balls, which comprised nine fours and two sixes, while Hamish Rutherford (25) and Derek de Boorder (30 not out) played supporting roles.

Samiullah Khan and Saeed Ajmal took a wicket each for the Pakistani side.
