West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said her state would never stop its fight against intolerance, notwithstanding the silence maintained by other states.

"The intolerance in the name of religion that is going on in the country can only be battled by Bengal. Bihar may be silent, Maharashtra may be silent, Odisha may be silent but West Bengal will never be silent. We don't care... how much difficult a situation Delhi creates. We only care for the people," Banerjee said at a meeting here on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.

Targeting the BJP, she accused it of inciting riots.

The Trinamool Congress supremo said: "We do not believe in government by the dangabaaj (riotous), for the dangabaaj, of the dangabaaj."

"I am in politics but it does not give me the right to dictate what others will eat or not. They are nothing but pseudo-religious," she added.
