More than 10,000 Syrians fled to Turkey in last 10 days as clashes escalated on the Turkish- Syrian border, a media report said Tuesday.
Over 10,000 Syrians, many of whom are injured or elderly people, crossed the Cilvegozu Border Gate into Turkey's southernmost province of Hatay over the past ten days, Xinhua reported citing Turkish Anadolu news agency.
Local officials anticipate more Syrians would flee the escalating violence in Syria in the coming days.
According to the Turkish government, the number of Syrian refugees in Turkey has exceeded 714,000, a majority of them -- 70 per cent -- being women and children.
