Over 150 people were booked on charges of attempted murder, arson and other crimes for attacking Municipal Corporation Gurgaon (MCG) chief and other senior officials during a demolition drive, an official said Friday.
MCG commissioner Praveen Kumar and other senior officials Thursday visited the Nathupur village on Mehrauli border where nearly 100 hutments were gutted by fire.
Though no one was killed or injured in the blaze, officials found the habitations were built on MCG land encroached near the Bio-Diversity Park.
The team of nearly 150 officials, including policemen, found that some houses were also built up on encroached MCG land.
The team demolished a house and in response, people started vandalizing the government vehicles. The mob also torched two fire tenders and kept some of the officers hostage till Thursday midnight.
People claimed that houses were built up on their own land.
