Paakhi Tyrewala directorial short film "Kajal" has won the Best Film from Rajasthan Award at the 10th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF). She considers it a big win.
The awards for JIFF were announced on the gala's final day on Wednesday.
The film has a hard-hitting portrayal on the issues increasingly faced by women in Indian society.
Featuring actress Salony Luthra and portraying a young woman's journey, it consists of an all-female crew and also celebrates the #MeToo campaign by highlighting the bullying that women face at the workplace and at home. It is about women standing up to the constant harassment and fighting it.
Tyrewala said in a statement: "I'm overwhelmed with the constant appreciation that our film has been getting. It's truly a proud feeling and a prestigious honour to be winning the Best Film from Rajasthan Award at the Jaipur International Film Festival 2018 since it is also the producer's hometown. Also, it elaborates women strength and hence is a big win not only for us but also for the women in our society."
Salony said: "To see your hard work being appreciated the world over is a feeling I cannot explain. I feel truly blessed to be associated with 'Kajal'."
