Indian men's tennis pair of Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna have advanced in the mixed doubles and men's doubles events at the US Open respectively.
The fourth seeded pair of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis made short work of Americans Claire Liu and Taylor Harry Fritz 6-2, 6-2 at the Flushing Meadows here on Wednesday.
The Indo-Swiss duo was in complete control of the proceedings, taking the match in just 46 minutes. They won 52 of the total 86 points in the match.
They await the winners of the clash between the Canadian-Australian pair of Eugenie Bouchard and Nick Kyrgios and the team of Ukrainian Elina Svitolina and New Zealand Artem Sitak in the second round.
In the men's doubles, Bopanna and Romanian Florin Mergea safely moved to the second round, overcoming the American pair Austin Krajicek and Nicholas Monroe 6-3, 6-4.
The sixth seeded pair needed 67 minutes to complete the victory, claiming 61 of the 109 points played.
They will next face the Polish-Mexican pair of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Santiago Gonzalez.
