Pakistan supports increase in the number of seats for Africa in the UN Security Council, Radio Pakistan reported on Wednesday.
Pakistan's permanent representative to the UN Maleeha Lodhi, in a 15-member Security Council debate on UN-AU Cooperation, on Tuesday highlighted the role of regional organisations in addressing issues related to international peace and security.
Lodhi said Pakistan has long-standing commitment to UN peacekeeping and will continue to extend every possible cooperation to the international community for global peace and stability.
African countries have three seats on the Security Council, with no permanent member and Lodhi supported more African seats to deal with conflicts in the 54-nation continent.
