In wake of the terror attack at an Army camp in Nagrota earlier this week, Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday urged Pakistan to introspect on the cause of tension between the two countries.

The attack claimed the lives of two Indian officers and five soldiers.

"India has always taken the position of improving relations with Pakistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken unconventional initiatives in this direction," Jaitley said in response to a question at the HIndustan Times Summit here.

"However, Pakistan's response to such overtures has been Pathankot, Uri, Nagrota," he said, referring to the successive terror attacks on army camps launched from across the border this year alone.

"If there are tension between us, it is for Pakistan to introspect on why there is such tension," he added.

Jaitley's remarks came on the eve the two-day Heart of Asia conference in Amritsar, where he will lead the Indian delegation in the place of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is unwell.
