A 15-year-old Palestinian boy was shot dead by the Israeli Army on Monday during clashes in the Dheisheh refugee camp near Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
Arkan Thaer Mizher was shot through the chest and heart during the clashes, which followed a dawn raid by Israeli soldiers to make arrests in the camp, while two other youths received leg wounds, Efe news reported citing the Ministry.
In a statement, the Israeli Army confirmed it had carried out an arrest operation in Dheisheh camp and claimed its soldiers fired live ammunition in response to residents of the camp throwing stones as well as "firebombs and grenades".
According to Palestinian security sources, the Israeli raid targeted two young people from the camp who were arrested from their homes, as cited in the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
