Brazilian giants Palmeiras secured the country's Serie B championship with two matches remaining after a 3-0 victory over Boa Esporte.
The result at the Pacaembu stadium Saturday came three weeks after the Sao Paulo-based side secured their return to the top tier after being relegated from the top division last year for only the second time in their history, reports Xinhua.
"We applied ourselves in all competitions this year and have won this title through a lot of sweat and sacrifice," Palmeiras coach Gilson Kleina said after the match.
"We have brought the giants back to the Serie A and our mission is now complete. The fans really deserve it."
In the Serie A Saturday, former Netherlands international midfielder Clarence Seedorf scored in Botafogo's 4-0 victory Atletico Paranaense at the Maracana stadium.
Striker Bruno Mendes struck twice and Elias also netted as the Rio de Janeiro club rose to third in the standings.
