As Durga puja marquees (pandals) across the city vie for top awards with novel themes and decorations, frenzied pandal-hoppers will also be seen competing for maximum pandal visits, courtesy a new contest beginning Sep 30.
With the puja beginning next week, plans are on for 'pandal-hopping', visiting one marquee after another.
For enthusiasts, braving the traffic, crowd and heat, to make their way to various pandals in the city, a system of tokens is being introduced Sep 30 at 50 such pandals.
In the ITC's 'Ashirvaad Shobcheye Chatpate Paribar' contest, kiosks will be set up at these major pandals, during four days of revelry, Sep 30 to Oct 3, according to a statement.
Participants (individuals/groups/families) can collect the tokens with the pandal number on it and at the end of the four days, the one with the most number of tokens will win gadgets.
Some of the major pujas where kiosks will be set up include Jodhpur Park, A95 Pally, Kumartuli Park, Mitali Kankurgachi Park and Naktala Udayan Sangha.
The Durga puja begins Sep 30.
