The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday set up a high-level committee to oversee the first 'Uttar Pradesh Pravasi Diwas' to be held in Agra January 4-6 next year, an official said.
The 'Event Coordination Committee' has been formed to ensure smooth and successful organization of the maiden event, an official said, adding that it will be chaired by Jail Administration Minister Balwant Singh Ramoowalia and the chief secretary will be the deputy chairman.
There are 20 members, including the divisional commissioner of Agra, secretary to Chief Minister along with principal secretaries of NRI, infrastructure and industrial development, information and public relations, information technology and electronics and some other departments.
The Akhilesh Yadav government is hosting the high-profile event for "exchange of knowledge and information amongst and with NRIs and PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin) leading to their increased bonding with the state of their origin, as also a meaningful dialogue aimed at enhancing investment and trade for UP", said the official.
