Parents of the December 16, 2012 gang rape victim, accompanied by other family members, on Thursday met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who informed them that his government would open a college and a hospital in their village.
An Aasha Jyoti Kendra would also be established in Ballia, he said. The gang rape victim hailed from a village in Ballia district in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
On the demand by the family that a member be given a job, the chief minister assured them that his government would seriously consider this.
Yadav also apprised the family that the state government was running many schemes for the security, honour and empowerment of women.
A women's honour fund has been established in the state for their self-respect and empowerment, the chief minister said.
Aasha Jyoti Kendras are being established in 11 districts of the state.
The '1090' women powerline was another initiative of the government to provide security to women, he added.
