Hundreds of parents staged a protest outside a private school here on Saturday to object to annual fees allegedly being illegally charged by the school management.
The protesters, most of them women, congregated outside the Manav Rachna International School (MIRS) in the city's sector-21 C and raised slogans against the school management.
They were demanding that the school authorities return the annual fees charged 'illegally' and wrongly by them.
"District Education Officer (DEO) Faridabad, issued an order on March 25 vide order SPL-1/2015 to the Private Schools -- stating that they were not supposed to charge the annual fee for the continuing promoted students, except the new classes like First, 6th, 9th and 11th,," one of the protesting mothers said.
"Still the schools are charging the annual fee. I am talking about particular private school -- Manav Rachna International School in Faridabad."
They also alleged that the school management has been forcing parents and students to buy uniforms, syllabus books and other stationery items from selected outlets.

"Such outlets, belonged to management or persons close to management sell these items according to their fixed rates. Many of the items which are useless for students are also being forced to buy," another parent said.
Protesters said they also spoke to the concerned education officer regarding the issue.
"DEO assured that if the school management have charged or charging wrongly, further steps will be taken according to law," another protester said.
However, no one was available for comments from the school management.
