Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday reviewed the security at the army's 4 Corps headquarters near Tezpur town.
He is likely to visit the troops deployed in the forward areas on Saturday, said a statement issued by the defence ministry's public relation officer Lt. Col. Suneet Newton.
The top brass of the forces, including Corps commander Lt. Gen Sarath Chand, briefed the minister about the dynamic counter-insurgency grid and the synergy achieved with the civil administration, state police and other para military forces in restoring normalcy in the state, it added.
Parrikar, who arrived here on Friday along with Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, is scheduled to visit the troops deployed in the forward areas on Saturday where he will have first-hand inputs on the ground situation.
"He will also be paying homage at the Tawang War Memorial to the martyrs who made supreme sacrifice of their life while guarding our frozen frontiers," the statement added.
Parrikar appreciated the high standards of military discipline and preparedness of the troops and their excellent performance in the backdrop of difficult terrain and challenging environment in which they are operating.
"He exhorted the troops to continue with the same zeal and sense of pride and honour showing due respect to Human Rights," the statement added.
