Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was on Thursday rushed to the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai after being diagnosed with food poisoning, an official said.
A formal statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office said that Parrikar was in Mumbai for a "routine check-up".
"Chief Minister will be unavailable for next two days, as he has to undergo a routine check-up in Mumbai," the statement said.
A CMO functionary said that Parrikar was examined at the state government-run Goa Medical College near here late on Wednesday night after complaining of stomach pain.
"He was examined at the Goa Medical College last night, where doctors established the cause of his illness as food poisoning. He was rushed to Lilavati hospital in Mumbai today (Thursday) for further examination," the official told reporters here.
