Congress veteran Ahmed Patel, who wrested a fifth Rajya Sabha term after a tough fight with the BJP, thanked party Vice President Rahul Gandhi and assured him that the fight will continue with the "same zest" till the Gujarat Assembly elections.
Patel took to Twitter to thank Gandhi for his wishes to the people of Gujarat, the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee and himself.
"I have assured Rahulji that we shall continue this fight with the same zest till the assembly elections," he added.
Patel got 44 votes that was just enough to beat his rival Congress defector Balwantsinh Rajput.
