Designer Payal Singhal is set to showcase a collection titled Chintz, which is inspired by the age-old printed fabric of the same name, at the forthcoming winter-festive edition of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW).
"The collection is inspired by India's first fashion export to the world, the ancient technique of printing fabric from the coast of Coromandel, 'Chintz' as we now call it," said the designer in a statement.
The collection explores the westernization of an ancient Indian art and the history and origin of Chintz.
The ensembles will have lots of deconstructed traditional Indian silhouettes done in deep tones of aqua, navy, teal, sienna, and cranberry on fabrics including rich crepes, silks and linens.
The forthcoming edition of LFW is scheduled to take place Aug 20-24 at Palladium hotel here.
