Several people, including some policemen, were on Friday injured in clashes when authorities forcibly took possession of hundreds of houses near here, police said.
The people were opposing the government move to take possession of houses built over more than 13 acres of land in Sector 47.
Dokhar Ki Dhani, a colony that sprang up on panchayat land of Fatehpur Jharsa village, was acquired by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in 2005.
But the gram panchayat and then sarpanch did not claim the compensation released by the Haryana government to oppose the acquisition.
Later, the area came under the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), and villagers accepted the compensation. HUDA officially became the owner of the land.
"Dokhar Ki Dhani was home to more than 1,000 people for nearly 50 years but this BJP government is working to favour the builders' lobby," alleged a displaced resident.
HUDA officials had demolished nearly 200 houses on April 15 amid protests. "We have rounded up a few people for violence," a senior police officer told IANS.
