Ahead of the Summit on Climate Change in New York next month, a "People's Climate March" will be held in the national capital Sep 20, to show political leaders that there is a strong force of concerned citizens demanding action on climate change.
The Summit is scheduled for Sep 23.
"September 20th will prove to be a critical moment in the coming few months. It is an immense opportunity to show our political leaders that there is a strong force of concerned citizens demanding action on climate change. The government has so far only given us mixed signals on its commitment to tackling this issue," said 350.org India in a tweet.
350.org is a part of a global organisation that is building a grassroot movement to address the challenge of climate change.
"Giant models of windmills and solar panels, inflatables of power plants, masks, banners, placards and thousands of people will adorn the streets of the capital city," added the tweet from 350.org India.
The march is a global movement with participation of college students, kids, other civil society allies, young professionals, rights groups, resident welfare associations and farming communities.
The group is using the social media to create awareness about the march and to increase people's participation.
