A week-long photo exhibition showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Vietnam's ancient Hindu Cham dynasty has opened in the city.

Titled "Traces of Indian Culture in Vietnam" the exhibition displays 54 photographs of deities, temples built in central Vietnam during the centuries-old Cham dynasty rule.

"The photographs are of various Hindu deities excavated from time to time from the ruins of the Cham dynasty temples," said Geetesh Sharma, the man behind the lens.

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) organised exhibition is being held at the Bengal Art Gallery.

The Council is also planning a similar exhibition in Shillong.

The Cham dynasty was a Hindu kingdom that controlled what is now central Vietnam from approximately the 7th century to 1832.
