Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday attended a meeting of the Somnath Trust, which was chaired by former Gujarat chief minister Keshubhai Patel and attended by veteran party leader L.K. Advani, an official statement said.
The prime minister stressed on the need for establishing Somnath Temple as a premier religious tourist destination, it said.
"He also suggested to build a state of the art virtual museum and auditorium. In this regard, the prime minister also suggested that a tourist circuit should be created connecting Somnath, Diu and Gir Lion Safari. The Trust decided to add many more tourist attractions," the statement said.
The trust has reappointed Patel as chairman for 2016 while Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah was appointed as the trustee, the statement said.
