Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday presenting Union Budget 2017-18 said the government will extend Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras to all over the country and launch Sankalp scheme for youths.
Jaitley said the number of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras would be extended from existing 60 to cover more than 600 districts across the country.
According to him, the government in the ensuing 2017-18 financial year will launch a scheme Sankalp (Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion Programme) at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore.
"Sankalp will provide market relevant training to 3.5 crore youths," he said.
Jaitley also said 100 India International Skills Centres (IISC) will be established across the country.
"These centres will offer advanced training and courses in foreign languages. This will help those who seek job opportunities outside the country," the Finance Minister said.
