Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has thanked club legend Andrea Pirlo for teaching him the art of taking free-kicks after he successfully converted a scorching set-piece in the Coppa Italia football tournament's 4-0 rout of Torino.

France international Pogba on Wednesday curled home a fine effort from 25 yards to cap the title holders' comfortable victory over their city football rivals in the quarter-finals following an earlier double from Simone Zaza and a strike from Paulo Dybala at the Juventus Stadium.

And Pogba, who joined Italian great Pirlo as a scorer in back-to-back derby encounters, thanked the 36-year-old current New York City FC player for the training ground tips that brought the Frenchman's excellent late free-kick this evening to life.

"I have been practicing my free-kicks a lot recently. Andrea (Pirlo) taught me so much when he was here so I feel I should thank him for my goal tonight," Pogba told the club's website about the player who played for Juventus between 2011 and 2015.

Turning on to his side's show, Pogba said they got what they wanted.

"We were terrific out there tonight. We kept our focus right until the very end. The result was the right one and now we move on to our next game (against Carpi on Sunday)," the 22-year-old said.
