Police arrest UP police constable in CDR case

The Delhi Police has arrested an Uttar Pradesh police constable for selling call detail records (CDR) to a detective agency.

"We have arrested Narender today," Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav told IANS.

He was arrested as he was not cooperating during the investigation, a senior police officer said.

Narender was posted in the Surveillance Cell at Inspector General of Police office in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur district. He was brought to the national capital for questioning by a team of the Delhi Police on Monday.

The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police had on Sunday busted an inter-state gang involved in illegally getting call detail records (CDRs) and then selling them to various people.

Police had arrested Jaiveer Singh Rathore, 46, Pankaj Tiwari, 26, Aditya Sharma, 32, and Sanjeev Chaudhary, 42, for illegally obtaining CDRs.

Investigators had said that Rathore, owner of a detective agency based in Uttam Nagar in west Delhi, got the call records from Narender.

Rathore used to sell the CDRs to private detective agencies, including BLS firm, for Rs 5,000 to Rs 30,000.

On Monday, Crime Branch sleuths had also carried out searches at the office premises of detective agency BLS Management Solution Pvt Ltd in central Delhi's Barakhamba road and seized several incriminating documents.
