Police officer killed in Afghan suicide bombing

A senior police officer, a well-known anti-Taliban figure, was killed in suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan sunday.

The attack took place in the afternoon when a militant detonated a suicide jacket close to the convoy of Abdul Wodoud in Kandahar, 450 km south of Kabul, police spokesman Zia Durranni told Xinhua.

Wodoud was shifted to a hospital where he died of his injuries around 3.00 p.m.

Wodoud was known for his anti-Taliban stance in the southern part of the country, a source said.
