Paradip Port Trust (PPT), which is in the process of doubling its evacuation capacity in near future, has also prepared a blueprint for a smart industrial park and multi modal logistic park spread over 600 acres, officials said on Tuesday.
Under the Union Shipping Ministry's flagship Sagarmala programme which will entail an investment of Rs 4 trillion, Paradip is being developed as a smart industrial port city.
"As part of this initiative, the port trust has prepared a blueprint for a Smart Industrial park & Multi Modal Logistic Park over 600 acres," said P.K. Bindhani, Superintendent Engineer (Township).
According to officials, the port trust is well connected by rail, road and inland waterways.
"Projects are under way to double evacuation capacity in the near future," PPT's Assistant Executive Engineer (Town Planning), Biswajit Mishra said at a road show which was an attempt to reach out to potential investors in logistics and warehousing for the proposed logistics park.
Boston Consulting Group (BCG), which has been closely working with the Shipping Ministry across a range of areas over the past two years, said $1.6 billion worth of investments have been initiated to double the capacity of the port trust from 127 MTPA to 250 plus MTPA.
