President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday greeted the government and people of Belarus on their Independence Day.
He said he looks forward to further strengthening the close ties between the two countries.
In his message to Belarusian President Alexander V. Lukashenko, Mukherjee said: "On behalf of the government and the people of India and on my own behalf, I have the pleasure to convey warm greetings to you and the people of the Republic of Belarus on the occasion of your Independence Day."
The President thanked Lukashenko for the warm hospitality extended to him during his recent visit to Belarus.
He said the friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries has been strengthened by the agreements signed during his visit.
"Please accept my good wishes for your personal health and happiness and for the well-being and prosperity of the people of Belarus," he added.
The day marks Belarus' liberation from Nazi invaders at the end of the World War II.
