Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Saturday said that there was a prima facie case against former Goa IGP Sunil Garg, who is facing graft accusations and currently being probed by the state Lokayukta.
Speaking to IANS, Parsekar said, that he had forwarded the contents of an enquiry conducted by chief secretary R.K. Srivastava, to the Lokayukta, which is conducting a formal enquiry into the bribery complaint against Garg, filed by a local businessman.
"I have forwarded the enquiry report against Garg to the Lokayukta," Parsekar told IANS.
When asked, if there was a prima facie case made out against the AGMUT cadre officer, who was transferred out of Goa earlier this month, Parsekar said: "Yes, there is."
In August this year, Garg was accused by a local businessman of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5.5 lakh for registration of a FIR in a cheating case.
Even as the state police refused to file a First Information Report in the case, businessman Munnalal Halwai had simultaneously filed a complaint with the Lokayukta.
