A professor of ICFAI University here committed suicide over marital discord while police are trying to trace his two children who were accompanying him.
Raghvendra Guru Prasad, who had separated from his wife a few months ago, ended his life by jumping before a train.
The 43-year-old had the permission from a city court to take his children out on every weekend. The professor had picked up the children, both sons aged 9 and 5 years, from his in-laws' house in Malkajgiri on Saturday morning.
Police Saturday evening found a body on railway tracks in Secunderabad and on Sunday identified it as that of Guru Prasad. Later, a suicide note was found from his house in Alwal.
His wife Suhasini then approached Malkajgiri police station and following her complaint, police began search for the missing children.
"He has not mentioned anything about the children in the suicide note. It is suspected that he harmed them before ending his life to put his wife in a spot," Malkajgiri inspector Sekhar Goud told IANS.
Guru Prasad had married Suhasini in 2004. The couple had recently approached a family court for divorce. He had sought the custody of two children but was only permitted to spend the weekend with the children.
