After losing seven consecutive Dutch league matches, PSV finally managed to win, a 5-1 triumph at FC Utrecht.
The Eindhoven based side had a perfect start to the game Sunday with Adam Maher and Memphis Depay scoring in the first quarter. After PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet stopped a penalty from FC Utrecht forward Steve de Ridder, the visitors added two more goals before half-time, reports Xinhua.
Utrecht defender Dave Bulthuis produced Utrecht's consolation goal in the second half. Although Depay saw his late penalty saved by Robbin Ruiter it was Maher who put an end to the match with his second goal in injury time.
Utrecht finished the match with nine men after both De Ridder and Bulthuis received their second bookings.
"We have fought hard for this win and despite all the setbacks in recent weeks we still had the belief that this could happen," said PSV coach Phillip Cocu.
"I can only give the players my compliments."
