Punjab and Haryana will get widespread rainfall with moderate winds next week and farmers have been asked to withhold the sowing of pigeon pea, the wather serveice of a leading agricultural varsity said on Friday.
"There is possibility of change in weather from June 21 night. Widespread rainfall with moderate winds will occur in the region between June 22 and 24," said a statement from the Integrated Agromet Advisory Service Unit of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University at Hisar.
It said the maximum temperature is likely to be between 38 and 43 degrees Celsius and the minimum between 27 and 31 degree.
The average wind speed would range between seven and 14 kilometre per hour, it added.
It issued an advisory to the farmers, asking them to do intercultural operations and hoeing in cotton crops for conserving the moisture and removing the weeds.
They have been told to withhold the sowing of pigeon pea for the next three days.
