The Punjab government will hold manufacturer units responsible for any adulteration in agricultural inputs like seeds, pesticides, feed, fertilizers and other things, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said Monday.
Badal announced in Samana town near Patiala, 100 km from here, that the state government would soon roll out a policy to fix accountability of manufacturing units for any adulteration in agri-inputs like seeds, pesticides, feed, fertilizers and others.
"This will keep retailers and shopkeepers away from any apprehension of any conviction for adulteration, besides saving farmers from huge losses," Badal told media.
Punjab, the country's Green Revolution state, alone contributes 60 percent food grains to the national kitty.
