A mountain pass that connects Nepal with Tibet reopened on Tuesday after the clearance of route which was hit by a landslide following the massive earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25.

Gyirong Pass was one of the hardest hit during the earthquake which killed 20 people in Tibet and over 7,000 in Nepal, Xinhua news agency reported.

According to sources, the landslides cut off traffic via the pass and flattened the immigration and customs office on the Nepal side.

Relief workers have removed 80 tonnes of rock blocking the road, making a narrow space for vehicles carrying quake relief goods to enter into the area.

Over 300 workers using 30 heavy machines are still working to fully repair the pass.
