As part of efforts to ramp up the party organisation in Uttar Pradesh ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday appointed six AICC secretaries to assist party general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Jyotiraditya Scindia.
A party release said that Zubair Khan, Kumar Ashish, and Bajirao Khade will be party secretaries attached to Priyanka Gandhi, who is incharge of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Rana Goswami, Dhiraj Gurjar, and Rohit Chaudhary will be secretaries attached to Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is incharge of western Uttar Pradesh.
The release said that Prakash Joshi and Naseeb Singh have been relieved from their duties as AICC secretaries.
Priyanka Gandhi and Scindia, who were appointed general secretaries last month, held a road show and held discussions with party workers in Lucknow last week.
The Congress, which won only two seats in the last Lok Sabha polls, is fighting the polls alone but has not ruled out alliances. It is not part of the alliance between the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.
