Ace fashion designer Rahul Mishra showcased his latest collection - Monsoon Diaries - at the FDCI India Couture Week 2015 (ICW) with the elegant line showcasing a completely hand-woven range with abundance detailing.
The showcase was held at the Taj Palace here on Friday, where the award-winning designer displayed as many as 36 ensembles for the modern day bride with the elements from hand-woven artworks inspired by the flora of the monsoon.
Using fabrics like khadi, organza, Chanderi, merino wool and georgette, Mishra reinvented the colour palette for the modern-day bride by choosing calming hues like indigo, celadon green and natural earthy tones like browns infused in silhouettes like lehengas, anarkalis, sarees, gowns, Kurtas and pallazos.
Talking about the collection, Mishra told IANS: "Yes it is (dedicated to nature) as it is inspired by German biologist and artist Ernst Haecke's work "Kunstformen der Natur (art forms of nature" (1899), Jardin du Malhousie takes me wandering down the mystical gardens."
Mishra shared that the preparing entire collection took four months and over 250 'karigars' (artisans) were involved in the entire process as "everything was handmade".
The collection features weaving techniques like French knots and wire work.
