Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will be participating in the inaugural function of a three-day International Dalit Conference in Bengaluru commencing from July 21, said a Congress leader here.
Gandhi will be the chief guest at the function, which will be organised by the Karnataka government, the Congress leader said.
This comes at a time when the presidential election will be fought between two Dalit candidates Ram Nath Kovind, who is the NDA's candidate, and opposition's nominee Meira Kumar.
"About 85 international scholars and researchers from abroad and nearly 200 from India will participate in the function," said the leader.
"The inaugural will be followed by 12 parallel sessions and panel discussions by scholars on various issues like social justice, exploitation and discrimination towards Dalits, secularism and other issues," said the leader.
