Congress vice resident Rahul Gandhi will inaugurate the year-long celebrations of B.R. Ambedkar's 125th birth anniversary on June 2 at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh.
A party release said June 2 marks the centenary of B.R. Ambedkar's graduation from Columbia University in the US.
Gandhi is also the co-chairperson of a party committee set up for the birth anniversary celebrations.
Born in Mhow, Ambedkar (1891-1956) was a jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who campaigned against social discrimination against Dalits, women and labourers. He is regarded as the architect of India's Constitution.
The Congress will also organise state-level functions to mark Ambedkar's 125th birth anniversary.
