With continued overnight drizzle bringing down temperatures in Lucknow, people in the capital of Uttar Pradesh woke up to a cool Friday morning.
The rains which have been occurring many times in the last two days had brought down the temperature considerably, Met officials said.
The maximum temperature 33.1 degrees Celsius, recorded Wednesday, slumped to 25.5 degrees Celsius Thursday and is likely to be the same Friday, the Met Office said.
JP Gupta, regional director of the Met department told IANS that a depression was circulating in the region leading to rains.
"The weather conditions will prevail in the next few days also and it would possibly be the last rains of the season" Gupta told IANS.
The monsoon was in the retreating mode and will further weaken in the coming week. Other than the drop in temperature, what has added to the winter nip are winds blowing at 12 kmph, Gupta added.
In the last 24-hours, the city has witnessed 5.8 mm rains and more is to come. However, the monsoon this year has been bad for the state capital, with just 741 mm rains.
Much of the rains came in June. In 2011, the city recorded 1045.3 mm rains during the monsoons and 952.3 mm in 2012.
Although other parts of the state received heavy rains throughout the monsoons so much so that 23 districts of the state were flooded. Heavy rains are predicted in Lucknow in the next 72-hours.
