Rajasthan on Wednesday signed 76 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) worth over Rs.319 crore in the tourism sector with private entities.

The MOUs signed were mainly for setting up of hotels, motels and resorts and are expected to provide direct employment to more than 2,800 people.

"These MOUs have been signed as a precursor to the upcoming Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit. We have created an investor-friendly environment in the state and it will take Rajasthan on a global level," Tourism Minister Krishnendra Kaur said in a statement.

The Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit -- to be held here on November 19-20 -- will have strategic conferences, panel discussions, round-table deliberations, presentations and one-on-one business meetings.

Shailendra Agarwal, Rajasthan's principal secretary for tourism, said the projects for which the MOUs were signed will be implemented in the next 2-3 years.

Another 42 MOUs are expected to be signed under the tourism sector on Thursday.
